MCU-Mastic® recently achieved Potable Water Certification independently certified by the Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC) under the latest AS/NZS 4020:2024 Potable Water Standard, achieving a rating of 45,000 mm²/L.

This milestone confirms MCU-Mastic®’s suitability for direct contact with potable-water infrastructure and reinforces its position as a durable, moisture-cured alternative to traditional systems. By curing through ambient moisture—without the limitations or coating-failure risks seen above 85% humidity—MCU-Mastic® provides greater predictability, lower project costs, and reliable performance even in challenging site conditions.

The new AS/NZS 4020:2024 introduces more stringent testing for materials in contact with drinking water, reflecting advances in both analytical science and material-performance expectations.

The standard now includes enhanced sensitivity when assessing potential leaching and contamination, ensuring coatings and linings maintain water purity throughout the asset life cycle.

These changes encourage utilities and manufacturers to verify that their systems align with the new criteria, promoting safer and more sustainable potable-water infrastructure.
